Don’t Talk to Me, I’m Dieting
by Phorm Athlete, Brett Becker on Jun 03, 2010, under Becker Built
I just returned on Saturday from a week in Mexico with Gillian and some friends of ours. We had a blast! Sunday marked the initiation of the pre-contest diet phase for my next show: the IFBB North Americans, September 3rd in Cleveland Ohio. I’m very grateful to have overcome an almost career ending [...]

The Final Answer on Protein Bars
by Phorm Athlete, Brett Becker on May 27, 2010, under Becker Built
I get a lot of great questions every day regarding bodybuilding, fitness and nutrition. The other day I got this question and had to respond immediately!
Question: Brett, what kind of protein bars do you eat and how do you incorporate them into your diet?
Answer: Well, there are some delicious tasting protein bars [...]

Hey Brett. The other day I heard someone refer to you as “Midwest Chest”. How did you get that nickname? I would love to develop great pecs and although my upper body training is a priority, I am not seeing the gains I want. What is the secret to your “Midwest chest”?

I got the nickname “Midwest Chest” a few years ago, when I filmed a video with MostMuscular.com titled “Midwest Chest” that featured my chest training. These are principles I continue to use in my chest training today. When I was new to lifting, like many newcomers I trained my chest 2-3 times a [...]

Hey Brett. I’m a 20 year old college student and a competitive bodybuilder. At my last show, I won my class and qualified for a National event. I’m planning to take the next semester of school off so that I can focus on my training for Nationals. People around me think that I have what it takes to become a pro and my trainer told me that I’m “the next big thing”. Studying for school and working part time keeps me busy enough but I have found it really difficult to prep food for my diet and train on top of all that. I live with my parents and they really don’t want me to take a break from school but I don’t want to give up on my dream. What do you think?

Dear Next Best Thing…yeah, that’s one I haven’t heard before. You may not want to hear this, but I applaud your parents. You would be an idiot to leave school for what you call a semester, because once you hit the weights in lieu of the books, you are very unlikely to return [...]

2010: A Work In Progress
by Phorm Athlete, Brett Becker on Jan 14, 2010, under Becker Built
I want to start this blog by wishing everyone a Happy New Year! 2010 is here, and frankly, it’s time to get my ass in gear! The holidays were great, especially the time spent with my 23 month old son, Brady, and of course Gillian, my beautiful partner in crime. The beginning [...]

Down But Not Out
by Phorm Athlete, Brett Becker on Oct 12, 2009, under Becker Built
As a competitive bodybuilder I believe the offseason is where you make your most gains. It is a time to put on some extra body weight and with this comes increased strength and added size. Up until a couple weeks ago my offseason was in full swing. I was sitting around 265lbs and life was [...]
