What is the best overall exercise for building muscle?

by Chairman & CEO, Andrew Frisella on Jul 30, 2009, under Customer Q & A

If I had to pick only one exercise for building muscle, it would definitely be the squat. Squats are tough. Squats hurt. Squats will make you so sore you’ll fear taking a dump because it hurts to sit down. However, squats will also build more muscle than any other exercise. Squats involve virtually all of [...]

I have been walking for 45 minutes at a brisk pace every morning with good results. However, it seems like I’m not getting the results as quick as I was in the beginning. I have been following this regimen for six weeks; do I need to up the intensity for me to continue getting results?

by Chairman & CEO, Andrew Frisella on Jul 29, 2009, under Customer Q & A

That is exactly what you need to do! You are already walking for a pretty good amount of time, so you should increase the intensity in other ways. I would suggest you start doing intervals of running and walking. For example you can run for one minute and walk for two minutes. This will effectively [...]

I was recently told by my trainer that 90% of how you look is diet and supplementation. I have a hard time believing that. Is this true?

by Chairman & CEO, Andrew Frisella on Jul 19, 2009, under Customer Q & A

Well, it is impossible to put an exact percentage number on how important nutrition and supplementation. Some people will say 60%, some 70%, some 80% and so on. The point here is that proper nutrition is a MUST to get great results from you overall fitness program.
You absolutely have to have your nutrition in order [...]

I have been reading about how to get in shape. I know I should be eating 5 or 6 times a day and exercising about 6 days a week. The problem is I have no time. I wake up at 6am and don’t get to bed until 11pm and I’m running nonstop the whole time. What can I do to get results without having to exercise and eat so much?

by Chairman & CEO, Andrew Frisella on Jul 16, 2009, under Customer Q & A

It sounds to me that you need to change the way you are approaching fitness. You are now looking at it as an inconvenience; you need to be looking at it as an opportunity.
Working out and eating right is an opportunity to improve the quality of your life. You are going to have to find [...]

I had a conversation about protein with my doctor and he said that the body can only absorb 20 grams of protein per sitting. I was wondering if it is true?

by Chairman & CEO, Andrew Frisella on Jul 13, 2009, under Customer Q & A

It is unfortunate that some doctors continue to mislead people on subjects like these, that are obviously not their specialty. Just because someone is a doctor doesn’t mean that they are the know all resource for everything that has to do with the human body. If that were the case, we wouldn’t have all the [...]

Why does it seem so hard for me to lose fat? I have been eating right, using the right supplements, doing cardio as well as lifting very consistently for a month now, but I have seen minimal results. I am starting to get frustrated.

by Chairman & CEO, Andrew Frisella on Jul 10, 2009, under Customer Q & A

Patience my friend….patience. Stick with it, this lag time for fat loss results is very normal. It usually takes the body at least four or five weeks to achieve noticeable results during any fat loss regimen. You are almost clear of the “lag zone”, which means your results will begin to accelerate tremendously very soon. [...]

I hate training legs! I love to train everything else except legs. Is it okay to not train legs?

by Chairman & CEO, Andrew Frisella on Jul 07, 2009, under Customer Q & A

Uh, no. It is not okay to just blow off your leg training. I feel your pain…literally. It sounds to me that you need to change your outlook about leg training. You train all other parts of your body to build muscle so that you look the best you can right? Well, by not training [...]

None of my friends are in very good shape, but they all say it’s genetics and they can’t help it. They told me that there is no way I could get in shape and lose fat eating six times a day. Is this true?

by Chairman & CEO, Andrew Frisella on Jul 03, 2009, under Customer Q & A

First off, don’t listen to your friends who obviously have no idea what they are talking about. They are obviously using “genetics” as an excuse to be lazy and let themselves go. Educate yourself and trust what you know to be true. The fact is, the only way to get lean and in shape is [...]
